A Brief Look At Funerals and Cremations in Canada.
Unfortunately when a loved one dies, grieving family and friends are quickly confronted with dozens of decisions to make about the funeral service. Usually when people make arrangements for a funeral service they believe the ceremony is for the deceased but actually it is for the mourning family and friends.

Funerals in Canada are divided into three sections
Visitation – Usually taken place one or two days prior to the laid in an open casket, or if you wish a closed casket, so friends and family can pay their respects. A book, kept by the deceaseds family, is autographed and records feelings and emotions felt by family and friends. Allot of families also show photographs and favourite possessions at the Visitation. This service normally concludes with a prayer service (at a Catholic funeral the service may also include a Rosary)
Funeral – Actual funeral services may also be influenced heavily by cultural and religious traditions. You may decide on an elaborate service or a private and simple affair. Each family is different and not everyone wants the same type of funeral. A traditional funeral normally includes a formal service, a hearse to take the body to the funeral site and either a cremation or burial of the body.
A funeral service will often include readings and prayers from the Bible. In allot of cases a family member or close friend of the deceased will give a speech of happy memories and any achievements the deceased may have made. These prayers and speeches provide comfort for friends and family who are mourning.
Burial – The funeral service concludes with a burial service.
Close relatives and friends of the deceased can carry the casket from the chapel to the hearse and then from the hearse to the site. A burial service is then held at the side of the grave.
In allot of traditions a gathering of family and friends will take place after the burial either back at the church or at another location.
