Sharing Special Moments With Your Family.
One of my earliest memories was of special family moments shared together. The warmth and closeness of these moments can forge strong bonds. Often my siblings would talk about these moments spent and we would realize that our parents did something right while raising us. Our relationships have never been stronger than they are today and perhaps it is that reason why we are so close.
Often we found ourselves in the kitchen with our mother, helping her with her baking or cooking. Maybe that is where our love of cooking and baking came from. One thing about my mother is that she had to possess the fortitude and patience of a saint for even letting us into the kitchen with her. Her anodized cookware set at one point was shiny and new, however with us kids helping her, unfortunately those pots and pans endured battles of their own.
We enjoyed that time with our mother, however there were other family moments spent around board games. Often my father would open a board game and we would eagerly rush to the dining room table. Each one of us intent on getting our favorite colored playing pieces, it was much later when we all realized that the color of the piece does not change the amount of fun that you can have with your family.
Another precious memory is everyone looking through the pictures in my mothers scrapbook album. Each page lovingly showcased us on brightly colored pages with heartfelt messages or comical statements. As much as it was a pleasure to look through the album with my family, it was a pleasure for them to watch me go through the pictures with my siblings.
There were many times when our laughter filled the air, and surely it gave our parents quite a bit of enjoyment as we pointed out humor in those photographs. Although perhaps one of my favorite pictures in that scrapbook was the time we attended a ball game. Peanuts and soda in each of our hands as we found our seats and sat down.
With a soda in hand we took our seats in the stands. Just as we started sitting the the batter stepped up to the plate, with each practice swing his black helmet shone in the sunlight. As the ball flew towards him he lifted the bat and as it connected it flew off the bat towards our seats. We all stood trying to catch it, my mother snapped a picture as the ball landed in my hands.
With so many special family moments, my family enjoyed making each and every one of them. Perhaps my children will make some treasured family memories with me.
