After many years of playing poker, I wanted to share my top tips on how I play my hands when playing free poker games online.
If you are new to poker and want to understand what the hands mean then hopefully my guide will really help you.
Pocket pairs: Aces the 10s 4 x the big blind. 7s,8s and 9s 2 times the big blind. 6s and lower I just flat call. 4s and under if a big raise is made I fold.
Ace/King to Ace/10 I raise 3x the big blind. Ace/9 and lower I just flat call and depends on the kicker if a raise is made I may just fold. Lower kickers like 2-5 should be folded with a raise made.

When playing free poker online I am the first person to admit that I struggle to quit a game. I find that I spend more time playing cash games when I am losing than when I am winning. It’s a definite leak in my game, and I’m working on learning when to quit when I’m losing. Quitting isn’t easy, and knowing when to quit is a skill that’s not easy to learn. Free poker or buy in poker – it really doesn’t matter. The point is, you don’t want to lose! Well, here are ten great tips on how to stop losing and start winning!
1. Playing too many hands. Are you playing too many garbage hands? For eg. 2 3 unsuited, 2 7 unsuited? These hands are very likely to lose, if you got them, fold them. Whether I am playing in a Free Poker Tournament online or a buy in game at a casino, the devastation of crash and burns are still the same.
Recently I played a $1K Winner Take All live poker tournament at a local casino. The buy in was decent at $50.00 and only 20 seats in the tournament. It was full of action and the play was what you would expect, lively.
I was surprised at some of the “donking”, but that soon settled down to some real action. After our first break we were down to 8 players on the final table. I’m a long time poker player, who loves every bit of playing poker and trying my best to come out on top, no matter if I’m playing a free online poker or playing in a large money game, or even trying to beat/teach my 7 yr old son. My mother was a huge poker player and would NEVER let me win, EVER.. I hated it, but it has made me a very good player.

Have you ever noticed how male and female poker players tend to have different playing styles even in free poker games?
This may not be something that a lot of players are able to pick up on. However, from playing at many tables, in free poker tournaments as well as online and offline stakes games. My observation is that lady poker players tend to be a little more conservative than male players. Women tend to play hands less frequently, and just take down small pots in order to keep above water. In comparison men are often more aggressive, take more risks and chase larger pots.
