(image) There is an argument
been long in the world – is really luck at blackjack, or skills? There were many objections and refutations to support or refute either thrown, but the answer is simple: it is not as simple as that!
With only 52 cards, there are already thousands of opportunities, and hands to be considered. The enormity of this number, however, could mean bad news for you if you know something about the implementation of happiness to your advantage.

Many slanderers truly believe that there isn’t any skill involved in poker…just dumb luck. If you play poker only once during your lifetime, luck is a huge factor, and it doesn’t matter if you are up against the best player in the world. You can get lucky and receive a superb hand, win the pot, and then never play again. Was luck a factor? Of course..
But Poker is a game of skill. Anyone who thinks poker is a game of luck ... more ...

I can imagine a free online poker player on http://www.NoPayPOKER.com who, after watching some episodes of the World Series of Poker or the World Poker Tour, suddenly gets ‘inspired’ and tries out one of the big advertised poker sites. Suddenly – suddenly – as he imitates the plays he saw in some episode, like moving all-in with 4-4 in early position – he thinks he is making a good play. As any experienced poker player will tell you, yes, it could be a good play but not all the time.
In most cases our newly enthused free poker player will proceed to lose a lot of money in a short period of time to the money site sharks.
Why not tell him to try the same play ... more ...

Low pocket pairs are better then many people think they are. They are also a lot worse then some people think they are. If you’re playing a free poker game it may not seem such a big thing but when its high stakes this stuff matters! Actually, even if you are playing “just” free poker games for any reason other than fun then you should treat it serious. So read on!
Ok to start with if the pot odds are about four to one it’s relatively secure to call, although a drawback, you won’t be pocketless after. Four to one may make you think that you should be calling every pocket pair but at the early stages it’s very difficult.
By folding a couple more times now could ... more ...

Not giving away your hands is the key to getting the most out of your money or chips in free online poker.
Moving all in on the river or pre-flop is only the right move when it’s really your only option, for example, Short stacked. In poker you need to think to yourself what would I do if I was in the same situation I am putting them in? When do call an all in pre-flop or on the river?
I’m expecting that you would say when you believe you had better cards. If you’re going to get called on an all in on a pre flop or river then your cards should at least be an Ace / Queen pre flop and a good pair with a high kicker on the river.
Consdier your move before acting:
If you had ... more ...

In this free poker article we discuss how to play with big pairs like AA, KK, QQ and JJ
If you’re lucky enough to have the best cards, a pair of Aces, its paramount you try and find a large raise or re -raise if a player raised before you. With a pair of Aces you must not call a raise as potentially you’re loosing the chance to get more money into the pot and probably more significantly allowing opponents with poorer cards get better cards on the flop.
Your goal is to force others to fold or to think you are bluffing with one big card or two big cards and call your big raise. It is important when playing with AA not to slow play with small raise so you won’t allow your opponents to ... more ...

If you want to try some new skills when playing free online poker then ‘sandbagging’ is a new one to try. In basic terms, sandbagging is the opposite to bluffing, where you lead your opponents to think that you have a week hand when you have a strong one.
When the game starts and other players start betting, hold back and keep your cool. Avoid making any raises of any size.
The aim is to entice as many players to stay in the game for as long as you can until the last second when you finish them all off with your hand.
Sandbagging is also known as ‘trapping’ or ‘slow play’, whereas in my opinion you don’t need to play too slow, just hide your hand ... more ...

In live poker, expert poker players rely on poker tells. Traditionally, poker tells are the body language of an opposing player to get a read on what cards they are holding or what actions they take. Poker tells are behavioural patterns related to cards, actions, and emotions of players. Some poker tells include, but are not limited to: fidgeting in the seat, placing of chips, breathing, tone of voice, facial expressions, and the directions of one’s gaze. With the advent and popularity of free online poker, tell have become related other factors instead of visible body language.
A popular tell when playing free online poker is how fast an opponent is playing. Aside from a bad connection or lag, the rate ... more ...

If you just play free poker games for fun then the technical side of the game might not be of so much interest to you. But if you harbour any ambition to play poker to win money then pay attention, this is essential!.
The first thing I felt I needed to know was how pot odds actually worked in order to make the most money I could!
So, what exactly does ‘pot odds’ mean? Well, this is the cash that is in the pot and the difference between what you need to contribute to stay in the game. For example, if there is $80 in the pot, and then another player bets $8, then the pot now has $88. You will now need to pay $8 to call, which means that the pot odds are 11:1.. If your chance of having the ... more ...

I remember when I first started playing free poker and there were so many terms that I didn’t understand, it was like a whole different language.
Hopefully this guide will help you learn some of the more modern terms, and also some of the more complex ones used when playing poker.
We are all used to the common terms, such as flop, turn, river, raise, etc. but some of those terms also have their own lingo attached. Such as…
4th street – also commonly called the Turn
5th street – the river
But that is not the limit of the terms you can keep in mind while you’re contemplating your next moves. Keep these in mind when you are watching the bets come around to ... more ...
